Health Clinic Exposes Patients to Hepatitis & HIV

March 19, 2008, 2:22 pm

InjuryBoard.com, FL - March 8, 2008

The Southern Nevada Health District is in the process of notifying approximately 40,000 patients of a local medical clinic about potential exposure to hepatitis C. This notification comes after an investigation of several cases of the illness.

The clinic in question is located at 700 Shadow Lane, Las Vegas. Apparently, patients who received anesthesia between March 2004 and January 11, 2008 at that particular center were exposed and should be tested immediately for hepatitis C as well as hepatitis B and HIV. The clinic has practiced unsafe injection practices and may have exposed patients to other patients' blood through procedures such as the re-use of syringes and using single dose vials on more than one patient.

Additional information is posted on the website of the Southern Nevada Health District at www.SouthernNevadaHealthDistrict.org. In the alternative, you can call their hotline at (702) 759-4636 for additional information.
